Orange Crystals, commonly known as Methyl Naphthyl Ketone Beta, is a classic floral aroma chemical valued for its warm, sweet and distinctive character. It provides orange blossom, floral, powdery, slightly fruity and warm woody facets to fragrance compositions.

Despite its name, Orange Crystals is not an orange-citrus material. Its name is associated with its traditional use in creating orange blossom and floral effects rather than with the odor of fresh orange peel.

It is particularly useful for adding body and warmth to floral compositions and can contribute a rich, elegant character to orange blossom, jasmine, floral and oriental accords.

Perfumers' Tip

Orange Crystals is useful for giving floral compositions a warm, rich and slightly powdery orange-blossom character. Combine it with Neroli, Linalool and Linalyl Acetate for a fuller orange-blossom accord, or pair it with Methyl Anthranilate for a more distinctive white-floral effect. Vanillin and Coumarin can add warmth, while Hedione helps increase floral diffusion.
