Description

Zenolide (IFF) is a refined musk aroma chemical known for its soft, delicate musk character combined with subtle red-fruit facets. IFF describes Zenolide as a soft, delicate musk with a red-fruit character. It has medium heart impact, low base impact and substantivity of more than 48 hours.

Its aroma combines clean musk, sweet waxy, fruity-berry, fresh and gently animalic nuances. This gives Zenolide a softer and more natural-feeling musk character, making it useful for adding body and smoothness without creating an overly heavy musk effect.

Zenolide works especially well in musk, fruity, floral, fresh, clean, woody and amber fragrances. It can support delicate floral accords, soften woody compositions and provide a smooth musky foundation for fruity fragrances. IFF reports good performance in fine fragrance, fabric conditioner and AP deodorants, with very good performance in shampoo.

Zenolide is particularly useful when you want a soft, clean musk with a delicate fruity warmth. Combine it with Galaxolide or other clean musks for a fuller musk accord, or pair it with Ambroxan and Iso E Super for a modern, diffusive base.

For a fruity-musk fragrance, try Zenolide + Raspberry + Bergamot + Hedione + White Musks. Strawberry, Cherry or Red Berry accords can emphasize its fruity side, while Rose and Jasmine can create a softer floral-musk effect.

For a clean modern fragrance, combine Zenolide + Galaxolide + Ambroxan + Iso E Super + Bergamot. This creates a smooth, airy musk foundation with excellent persistence.

Zenolide is also useful for softening sharper materials and connecting fruity or floral heart notes with the base. IFF reports excellent stability in several functional applications and more than 48 hours of substantivity.

Because Zenolide has a relatively soft and delicate odor, it can be used at higher levels than many powerful musk materials. However, evaluate it in the complete composition because its waxy and animalic nuances become more apparent as the dosage increases.
