Description

Aldehyde C20, commonly known as Raspberry Aldehyde, is a distinctive fruity aroma chemical with a characteristic raspberry, red-fruit and rosy-violet profile. Despite its traditional perfumery name, it is not a true aldehyde chemically; it belongs to the glycidic ester family. This historical "aldehyde" naming convention is also seen with several other classic fruity materials.

In perfumery, Aldehyde C20 is valued for creating raspberry, red-fruit, tutti-frutti and fruity-floral effects. It can bring a juicy, sweet berry character to a composition while adding subtle rosy and violet nuances. Use Aldehyde C20 to give a fragrance a recognizable raspberry and red-fruit signature. For a more realistic berry effect, combine it with raspberry ketone, ionones and soft floral materials rather than relying on C20 alone.

For a sweeter gourmand direction, pair it with vanillin, ethyl maltol and fruity materials. For a sophisticated fruity-floral accord, combine it with rose, violet, ionones and Hedione. Start from a dilution and increase gradually to control its strong fruity character.
