Description

Alpha Phellandrene is a naturally occurring monoterpene aroma chemical with a fresh, terpenic character combining citrus, green, woody and peppery facets. It is also known as p-Mentha-1,5-diene and has the molecular formula C₁₀H₁₆. It occurs naturally in a number of essential oils and is used in fragrance and flavor applications.

In perfumery, Alpha Phellandrene is useful for giving compositions a bright, fresh and natural opening. Its citrus-terpenic character is supported by green, herbal, woody and distinctly peppery nuances, with a subtle minty impression. This makes it particularly interesting in citrus, spicy, herbal and geranium-style accords.

Use Alpha Phellandrene to give citrus and herbal accords a fresh green-peppery lift. It is particularly effective when paired with citrus oils and other terpenic materials.

For a more natural opening, combine it with bergamot, lemon, linalool and geranium materials. Because it is primarily a top-note material, evaluate the accord both immediately and after the opening has evaporated.
