Description

Alpha Pinene is a naturally occurring monoterpene aroma chemical and one of the characteristic components associated with the fresh scent of pine and coniferous materials. It has a crisp, energetic odor profile featuring pine, woody, resinous, green and slightly citrus-like facets.

In perfumery, Alpha Pinene is useful for creating pine, coniferous, fresh woody and green accords. It can provide a natural outdoors-like freshness and is particularly effective in compositions designed to evoke forests, herbs and aromatic greenery.

Its bright terpenic character also makes it useful as a modifier in fresh and woody compositions. When combined with citrus materials, it can create a sparkling natural opening, while pairing it with cedarwood, pine and resinous materials can produce a richer coniferous effect.

Alpha Pinene is ideal for creating a fresh, natural pine and forest effect. Combine it with Limonene and citrus oils for a bright opening, or with Pine Oil, Cedarwood and Bornyl Acetate for a richer coniferous accord. Its sharp terpenic character is best balanced with softer woody or floral materials when a smoother fragrance is desired.
