Description

Anisyl Acetate is a versatile sweet, powdery floral-fruity aroma chemical with soft vanilla, plum, cherry and balsamic nuances. It is also known as p-Anisyl Acetate or 4-Methoxybenzyl Acetate. Its odor profile is often described as sweet, creamy, powdery, fruity and balsamic, with subtle spicy and vanilla-like facets.

In perfumery, Anisyl Acetate is valued as a floral and fruity modifier that can add sweetness, softness and body to a composition. It is particularly useful in violet, mimosa, acacia, lilac, hawthorn and other soft floral accords. It can also create attractive plum, cherry and vanilla effects, making it useful in fruity, gourmand and oriental-style compositions.

Its relatively smooth character allows it to connect floral, fruity and balsamic materials without becoming excessively dominant. Anisyl Acetate can therefore serve both as a recognizable fragrance note and as a supporting ingredient that rounds out an accord.

Perfumers' Tip

Use Anisyl Acetate to add soft sweetness and powdery fruity-floral body without making an accord excessively heavy. It is especially useful for building plum, cherry, vanilla and soft floral effects.

For a richer anisic-floral character, combine it with anisaldehyde or anethole. For a creamy powdery effect, try vanillin, heliotropin and ionones.
