Description
Calone CRY, commonly known as Calone 1951, is a classic and highly recognizable marine aroma chemical used to create fresh, watery and ocean-inspired fragrance effects. Its distinctive odor combines watery melon, fresh sea air, ozonic, marine and slightly floral facets.
Calone became particularly important in the development of modern aquatic and marine fragrances, where it is used to create an impression of cool water, ocean air and a clean seaside environment.
Compared with a diluted Calone solution, the crystalline material provides the perfumer with greater control over the concentration and can be incorporated into fragrance bases according to the desired intensity. Because of its powerful character, careful dosing is recommended.
Calone is particularly effective in marine, aquatic, fresh, citrus, sporty and watery floral compositions. It can also bring a refreshing watery dimension to fruity accords.

Perfumers' Tip
Calone 1951 is a high-impact marine material, so start with a small amount and increase gradually. Combine it with Dihydromyrcenol and citrus materials for a bright, refreshing aquatic accord, or use Hedione and white musks to create an airy marine-floral effect. Melonal can further emphasize the characteristic watery melon facet.
