Description
Cashmeran is a distinctive synthetic aroma chemical developed by IFF and widely used in modern perfumery. It has a complex woody, musky, spicy and ambery character, with additional powdery, floral, earthy, pine and fruity nuances. IFF describes Cashmeran as diffusive, spicy and musk-like, with a soft velvet nuance and long-lasting performance.
In fragrance construction, Cashmeran is valued for the texture and warmth it brings to a composition. Rather than behaving like a straightforward cedarwood or sandalwood material, it combines woody and musky qualities with a distinctive spicy character. This makes it useful for building modern woody, amber, floral, oriental and skin-scent styles.
Cashmeran can also provide excellent support to floral compositions, adding a soft, velvety dimension beneath materials such as rose, jasmine and carnation. IFF specifically lists its usefulness in spicy carnation florals, animalic notes, orientals and woody accords. Its long-lasting character also makes it valuable for giving a fragrance greater depth and persistence.

Perfumers' Tip
Cashmeran is excellent when you want to add a warm, velvety woody-musky texture rather than simply increasing the amount of woody material. Start at a low level and build gradually because its distinctive spicy character can quickly become prominent.
For a modern woody accord, combine it with Iso E Super, Ambroxan and sandalwood materials. For a richer floral direction, try Cashmeran with rose, jasmine, Isoeugenol or Delta-Damascone. IFF lists Timbersilk, Citronellol, Isoeugenol and Delta-Damascone among notable combinations.
