Description
Cedryl Acetate Crystal is a classic woody aroma chemical derived from Cedrol and supplied in crystalline form. It has a characteristic dry cedarwood, woody and vetiver-like odor, making it an important material for building long-lasting woody fragrance bases. The crystalline form is distinct from liquid commercial grades that may contain related cedarwood acetate components.
In perfumery, Cedryl Acetate is valued for its ability to provide smooth woody body, cedar character and excellent substantivity. It can be used to reinforce natural cedarwood effects while providing a clean, dry structure to a fragrance. It is particularly useful in woody, fougère, chypre, leather, amber and masculine-style compositions. Fragrance references describe the material with cedar and vetiver facets and highlight its use as a woody fixative.
The crystal grade is especially useful when a perfumer wants a dry, precise cedarwood effect. Cedryl Acetate Crystal is a solid around room temperature, with a reported melting range of approximately 45–49°C, so it may need gentle warming or pre-dissolution before incorporation into a fragrance concentrate.

Perfumers' Tip
Cedryl Acetate Crystal is an excellent woody base and fixative material. Use it to give cedarwood accords greater body, dryness and persistence without introducing the sharper terpenic character associated with some cedarwood essential oils.
For a modern woody accord, combine it with Iso E Super, Ambroxan and Cashmeran. For a more natural cedar effect, pair it with Cedrol and Cedarwood Virginia, then add vetiver or patchouli for additional depth. Because the crystal melts around 45–49°C, prepare a suitable dilution before weighing it into a formula.
