Description

Dihydromyrcenol, commonly known as DHM, is one of the most important modern fresh aroma chemicals used in perfumery. It has a bright, clean and highly diffusive character combining citrus, floral, green, fresh and slightly fruity facets.

DHM is especially well known for its ability to create a fresh-out-of-the-shower, clean and uplifting effect. It provides excellent lift and diffusion while helping compositions feel airy, energetic and modern.

In perfumery, Dihydromyrcenol is widely used in fresh, citrus, aquatic, aromatic, floral and sporty fragrances. It is particularly effective in men's fragrances but is equally useful in unisex and fresh feminine compositions.

Its clean character also makes it extremely valuable in functional perfumery, including soaps, shampoos, deodorants and household products.

Perfumers' Tip

Dihydromyrcenol is excellent for creating a bright, clean and highly diffusive fresh effect. Combine it with citrus oils and Citral for a sparkling citrus opening, or pair it with Calone and marine materials for a fresh aquatic accord. Hedione can add floral radiance, while Ambroxan and white musks can give the composition a clean, long-lasting base.
