Description
Geraldehyde (IFF) is a powerful aroma chemical known for its intense aldehydic, citrus, marine and floral character. It is highly diffusive and is particularly useful for giving fragrance compositions sparkle, radiance and lift. IFF describes it as an intense aldehydic note with marine, floral and citrus nuances.
Its aroma combines bright citrus, fresh aldehydic, ozonic, marine and floral facets, creating an airy and sparkling effect. The material can add energy to citrus openings while also helping floral and marine accords project more strongly.
Geraldehyde works especially well in citrus, marine, ozonic, floral, fresh and aldehydic fragrances. It is particularly effective in fine fragrance when used carefully alongside other aldehydic materials.

Perfumers' Tip
Geraldehyde is especially useful for adding sparkle, radiance and diffusion to a fragrance. Combine it with Bergamot, Lemon and Mandarin for a bright citrus-aldehydic opening, or pair it with Neroli, Jasmine and Hedione for a radiant floral effect.
For a modern marine accord, try Geraldehyde + Floralozone + Helional + Bergamot + Ambroxan. Other aldehydes can increase its sparkling effect, while White Musks can provide a smooth and clean drydown.
Because Geraldehyde is powerful and highly diffusive, start at trace levels and evaluate carefully. Small amounts can have a noticeable effect on the brightness and projection of a composition.
