Description

Hercolyn D is a resin-derived fragrance ingredient valued for its warm, rich and long-lasting character. It provides a smooth combination of woody, balsamic, resinous and slightly pine-like facets, making it useful for creating depth and body in fragrance compositions.

Unlike highly diffusive top-note materials, Hercolyn D is primarily appreciated for its substantivity and fixative properties. It can help anchor volatile fragrance ingredients and contribute to a more persistent base.

In perfumery, Hercolyn D is useful in woody, amber, balsamic, oriental, pine and resinous compositions. It can also be used as a supporting material in natural-style bases where a warm resinous character is desired.

Perfumers' Tip

Hercolyn D works best as a warm, substantive base material and fixative. Combine it with Labdanum and Benzoin for a rich amber-balsamic accord, or pair it with Cedarwood, Guaiacwood and Vetiver for a dry woody base. It can also help extend the life of more volatile citrus and floral materials when incorporated into a balanced fragrance formula.
