Description

N-Hexanol, commonly known as Alcohol C6, is a fresh and distinctive green aroma chemical with a strong grassy and leafy character. Its odor profile is often associated with fresh-cut grass, green leaves, herbs and slightly fruity nuances.

It is particularly useful for adding a realistic green, natural and freshly crushed-leaf effect to fragrance compositions. Because of its relatively volatile character, it works mainly in the top-note area and can provide immediate freshness and lift.

In perfumery, N-Hexanol is useful in green, fresh, herbal, fruity-green and natural-style compositions. It can also be used to enhance the realism of botanical and leafy accords.

Perfumers' Tip

N-Hexanol is especially useful for creating a realistic fresh-cut grass and green-leaf effect. Combine it with Cis-3-Hexenol and Cis-3-Hexenyl Acetate for a stronger freshly crushed-green accord, or use it with Dihydromyrcenol and citrus materials for a bright fresh opening. Keep the dosage controlled because its green character can become sharp at higher levels.
