Description

Olibanum Absolute is a rich natural perfumery material valued for its characteristic resinous, balsamic, woody and incense-like character. Also associated with frankincense, it is widely used to bring warmth, depth and a sophisticated resinous quality to fragrance compositions.

Its aroma combines warm resin, dry wood, balsamic, slightly citrusy, spicy and incense-like facets. Compared with the brighter character of many essential oils, an absolute can provide a fuller and deeper interpretation of the botanical material.

Olibanum Absolute is excellent for creating a deep, warm and sophisticated incense effect. Combine it with Bergamot, Lemon and Lavender for a brighter resinous accord, or pair it with Myrrh and Labdanum Absolute for a darker, more balsamic composition.

For a modern woody-incense fragrance, try Olibanum Absolute + Cedarwood + Sandalwood + Vetiver + Ambroxan. Benzoin can add sweetness and softness, while Patchouli and Oud Accord can create greater depth and richness.

Its resinous character can be quite distinctive, so start at moderate levels and increase gradually during evaluation to maintain clarity and balance.
