Description

Pure Galaxolide is a classic synthetic musk widely used in modern perfumery for its clean, powerful, smooth and highly persistent character. It belongs to the iso-chroman musk family and is valued for its ability to provide volume, softness and a long-lasting musky foundation. IFF describes Galaxolide as a clean, powerful and versatile musk with exceptional persistence and a fragrance quality approaching the character of macrocyclic musks.

Its aroma combines clean musk, sweet, soft floral, slightly woody, powdery and warm facets. It can create a comfortable, polished and diffusive effect while helping other fragrance materials blend smoothly into the base.

Pure Galaxolide works especially well in musk, floral, woody, fruity, fresh, clean and amber fragrances. It is also widely used in personal care, soap, shampoo, fabric care and home fragrance applications. IFF reports very good performance in fine fragrance and high base-note impact, with substantivity of more than 48 hours.

Perfumers' Tip

Pure Galaxolide is excellent for building a clean, soft and highly persistent musk foundation. Combine it with Habanolide or Ethylene Brassylate to create a fuller musk accord, or pair it with Hedione and floral materials for a radiant floral-musk effect.

For a modern clean fragrance, try Galaxolide + Bergamot + Hedione + Iso E Super + Ambroxan. Vanilla and Benzoin can add warmth, while Sandalwood and Cedarwood create a smooth woody-musky base.

Galaxolide is particularly useful for rounding and connecting a fragrance, allowing citrus, floral and woody materials to transition smoothly into the drydown. Because it is powerful and exceptionally persistent, evaluate it on a blotter and in the finished fragrance before increasing the dosage.
