Description

Rosalva (IFF) is a versatile floral aroma chemical with a distinctive fresh, green and aldehydic dewy-rose character. IFF describes it as a material that provides a waxy aldehydic effect without becoming fatty, while maintaining consistent odor strength. It is particularly useful for creating fresh, clean and natural-looking rose effects.

Its aroma combines dewy rose, fresh green, aldehydic, clean and soft waxy facets. The green quality gives the rose character a crisp, natural lift, while the aldehydic side adds brightness and diffusion. Rosalva can therefore work as more than simply a rose material—it can also function as a fresh floral modifier.

Rosalva is especially useful in rose, floral, green, fresh, aldehydic, fruity-floral and clean fragrance compositions. It is also well suited to soaps, detergents, fabric conditioners and personal-care fragrances because of its good stability and performance in these applications. IFF reports good performance in fine fragrance and very good performance in fabric conditioner and soap.

Rosalva is particularly useful when you want a fresh, dewy and natural rose effect rather than a heavy, sweet rose character. Combine it with Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol, Citronellol and Geraniol for a fuller rose accord, or add Geranium to emphasize its green-floral character.

For a fresh rose composition, try Rosalva + Rose + Phenyl Ethyl Alcohol + Bergamot + Hedione + White Musks. This gives a clean, airy and dewy floral profile.

For a green rose accord, combine Rosalva + Galbanum + Cis-3-Hexenol + Geranium + Bergamot. Violet Leaf and Violiff can further emphasize the green leafy dimension.

Rosalva can also be used as a lifting material in floral and refreshing compositions, helping bring brightness and freshness to heavier floral or woody structures. Historical perfumery references note its usefulness beyond strictly rosy compositions, particularly alongside green, ionone and resinous materials.

IFF reports good fine-fragrance performance, very good performance in fabric conditioner and soap, and more than 48 hours of substantivity.

Because Rosalva has a strong aldehydic opening, start at a low level and evaluate it after dilution. At higher concentrations, its waxy, green and slightly metallic aspects can become more noticeable.
