Description

Styrax Resinoid is a rich natural perfumery material valued for its distinctive sweet, balsamic, smoky, leathery and resinous character. It is widely used to create depth and warmth in darker fragrance compositions and can provide a distinctive resinous foundation to the base.

Its aroma combines sweet balsamic, smoky, leathery, warm, resinous and slightly vanilla-like facets. Depending on the material, it may present a softer sweet-balsamic character or a darker, more pronounced smoky and leathery profile.

Styrax Resinoid is particularly useful for creating a dark, warm and leathery resinous base. Combine it with Labdanum, Benzoin and Olibanum for a rich amber-resin accord, or pair it with Leather Accord and Cade Oil to emphasize its smoky character.

For a warm woody composition, try Styrax Resinoid + Sandalwood + Cedarwood + Patchouli + Ambroxan. Vanilla and Tonka Bean can soften its darker facets, while Black Pepper, Cardamom and Saffron can introduce a modern spicy dimension.

Because Styrax Resinoid is powerful and heavy in character, start at trace levels and increase gradually during evaluation to maintain balance and clarity in the final composition.
